The children travelled on the Bluebell Railway to “Heaven Knows Where” and had the opportunity to role-play being billeted, to meet some veterans who lived through evacuation and to explore some of the ways evacuee children would have had to entertain themselves in the absence of an X-box! They finished their experience by sheltering in the subway when the air raid siren sounded. It was a fabulous day and gave our children a deeper understanding of events from the era.
