Our Year 7 children arrived to school today with their Flour Babies! A three week immersive English project studying the award-winning play ‘Flour Babies’ by Anne Fine has begun. Creches have been set-up in classrooms, baby carriers and babysitters arranged.
The pupils must look after their Flour Baby as if it is a real baby. They have all been named and identities given to them. Year 7 have been introduced to the characters in the play and can already relate to some of the challenges they face.
Did you know Flour Babies is based on a project conducted in a Californian High School which were experiencing high teenage pregnancy rates. The project lasted three weeks with some surprising results.
