Camelia’s family have kindly provided us with their own blog, offering the story of her entrance into the world:
“Camelia was born two months early, and spent 4 weeks in Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) at St. Peters Hospital in Chertsey, Surrey.
Camelia isn’t fully aware of the impact raising money for this charity means just yet! But the 17th of November is World Prematurity Day, and Camelia will be raising money for the NICU charity, The Little Roo Neonatal Fund. Camelia is asking everyone to please wear purple accessories (alongside their pyjamas!) and donate £1 towards this incredible charity. Camelia will be very thankful!!
We know many of you who also have experience of having a baby in NICU, whether through having a premature or full term baby needing that extra bit of care. The Little Roo Fund raises money to support the NICU to continue to offer the highest standards of intensive care for babies born in Surrey and further afield. With 25 beds that can be occupied at any one time, there is always an ongoing need for additional and replacement specialist equipment. Every penny helps with such things as; devices for treating and monitoring brain damage and helping babies breath, providing support for families, especially through bereavement, and also to send staff for specialist training that the NHS cannot provide funding for.
