Join the Vlog Squad!

Get vlogging with a video book review telling others in our community what you thought of a book you have read....

To celebrate World Book Day 2023 we’re inviting children in Years 5 – 8 to create a video book review, telling everyone in our community a little about a book of their choice and whether it is worth a read.

All entries will be showcased on screens around the school throughout Pennthorpe’s World Book Week (27 February – 3 March). Winning vlogs will also be shown at one of our whole school huddles, for everyone to enjoy.

Two house points will be awarded for every vlog book review received.

Whether you want to be a YouTube star, or simply share your love of a great book, choosing to vlog your thoughts is a powerful way to have your voice heard. Short for a video blog, or a video log, a vlog is a blog in video form. Think of it as your own little TV show, produced by and starring you!

There are many things you could include in your vlog book review, but listed below are things that we think are essential:

Introduce the book and author. Describe what type/genre of book it is.
Who are the characters and what are they like? What makes the characters this way? Do you like them? Why? Why Not?
Describe what the books tells you about the setting/location of the story.
Describe an event that has a direct impact on the storyline and/or characters.
What is the turning point in the book which brings about its conclusion?
What makes this an exciting book to read? (e.g was there suspense or a plot twist?)

Once your vlog is complete, share it with us via the Library Team by Friday 24th February, following the steps below:

Find the Library Team on Microsoft Teams
Navigate to the section Files > General > Videos
Create a folder with your own name
Upload your book review into your named folder in Videos.
