Year 2 travelled through the windy and wet Surrey countryside to play their first ever Pennthorpe fixture. We took on a competitive Barrow Hills team on their home soil. All the children demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and the fixture ended with an almighty three cheers for both teams. Throughout the afternoon our Pennthorpe scored over 50 goals/tries and showed collaboration and kindness throughout. We look forward to welcoming Barrow Hills to us in the summer for a cricket fixture.
Sports Round Up & Team of the Week
On Monday the Year 2 children played their first ever Pennthorpe fixture against Barrow Hills.
I really enjoyed playing tag rugby because I like playing with my friends.Jack, Year 2
The match tea was delicious. We had yummy sausages!Ella, Year 2
This week we haven’t had as many fixtures as we would want with the weather impacting on fixtures on both Wednesday and Thursday. One game which went ahead was the U11s hockey away against Longacre. The U11s had a very strong team performance against a well drilled Longacre team. The team performed excellent long passes and held our space well. The game ended with a 4-4.
The U8s and 9s were against Longacre and Amesbury at home with the girls football unfortunately being cancelled. We fielded 5 boy’s teams against Longacre & Amesbury with every boy in Year 3 & 4 playing again with the results from each game being even across the board. The skill level is improving each week!
Finally, last Friday a group of U11 girls travel to Brighton College to take part in the Pelican Cup. There was a range of school there from across Sussex and some stiff competition. Throughout the morning the girls played some good netball and started to develop their understanding of positions and what their individual roles were within the team. The girls had a great day and were great representatives for Pennthorpe.
