What a brilliant week we have had for Performing Arts Spotlight Week.

The week started with the Year 8 students taking over the staff room with their African drums. They then performed in Monday’s huddle, singing and playing some traditional call and response and a song from Kenya. We were also treated to some solos in the huddle by some of our talented Year 8 musicians. The Years 5-8 children were also really lucky to have a visit from some a group of professional actors, Quantum Theatre, who performed ‘A Christmas Carol’. It was a wonderful performance with some excellent acting and singing on display, which really inspired the children.

On Tuesday the Year 5 children took over as they marched through the playground on their pBuzzes, and even surprised Mr Murray in his office with a rendition of ‘O When The Saints’! Mr Murray had a go on the pBuzz and Mrs Golchin was very impressed – he was a natural!

The Pre-Prep children gave a wonderful performance to their parents on Tuesday morning, as they sang some songs and acted out some scenes about Mr Troll and his fairy tale friends. The parents and staff sounded brilliant when they joined in the singing!

On Thursday, we enjoyed watching our street dancers perform in the Sports Hall during break, which was fantastic. And the week has ended with a flash mob from Year 3 & 4 in the canteen – it certainly took the staff by surprise!

We have some very talented students here at Pennthorpe and it has been wonderful to have an excuse to show them off this week. Well done to all the children who have performed this week.
