⚽ A round up of the boys’ matches…
- Unfortunately for the 2nds, their tournament was cancelled. However, they were on hand to support the 3rds as they faced tough opposition at home. Despite the score line, Sam S gave a commanding and confident performance in goal, keeping the score line down and remaining determined throughout.
- Colts A were also at home to Cottesmore A&B squads; whilst their As dominated the first game through a couple of very skilled players, Pennthorpe dug deep and pulled it back against their Bs, regaining control of the match and working much better as a team. The boys played some lovely passing that led to well-worked team goals and a comfortable win. Arthur led superbly from between the sticks, constantly encouraging teammates and remaining positive.
- The 1sts travelled away to Worth to play a triangular alongside Cottesmore. The team had an evenly matched game against Worth, with just a single goal giving them the victory; unfortunately by the time they played Cottesmore the pitch was even more boggy and waterlogged than it had been to start with and the team struggled to maintain possession and close down opposition attacks. Oliver gave a great defensive display, using his strength to keep battling to the end.
🏑 And the girl’s matches:
- In the hockey, booths 1sts and 2nds faced Dorset House at home. The 1sts cruiser to a 4-1 win with some excellent team play, providing plenty of opportunities up top whilst remaining solid at the back. Following half time, Lexi applied feedback superbly to create space down the wings and assist in some lovely build up play.
- The 2nds then faced a team that was essentially Dorset’s firsts again, managing to keep the score line a modest 2-1 deficit until the dying minutes, where chasing an equaliser unfortunately led to two goals in quick succession for the opposition. Despite taking a knock earlier in the match, Alice powered through, determined to see the game out and keep fighting for her team.
- The Y6 hockey team travelled to Dorset House to play their A&B teams, coming away victorious in both matches with comfortable wins. Lara worked relentlessly for the team ensuring everyone stayed motivated and positive.
