The children have recently been learning to use two different tools: a Billhook to chop wood and a Sheaf Knife to whittle. Using tools like these is a great way to allow our adventurers to ‘take a risk’ and engage in a new experiences.

After discussing the tools and how to use them safely, the group came up with the idea of chopping wood to make ‘Pooh Sticks’ for a race down our rain-filled stream. Following the stick race, the children had a discussion about what could make them go faster. There were some fantastic ideas, such as whittling them down to a point at one end, whittling them flat, and even making a hole in the middle of one. The sticks then raced down the stream!
