The Sports Hall was transformed into a Christmas wonderland of games, arts and crafts, refreshment stalls and face painting by our very own Mrs Butcher.
The children were thrilled by the prizes they won from the games whether that was a Santa hat, a Christmas duck, a Rudolf Reindeer headband or some Christmas glasses to name just a few! Along with the games like racing Christmas pigs and knocking Santa down his chimney, the children enjoyed writing to Santa and dipping their own candles.
We also had a special visitor from the man in red (along with his elves) who joined us in his magical grotto where he met our wonderful Pennthorpe families.
The chocolate that was kindly donated to school by families for the House Chocolate Competition created the very popular chocolate Tombola, which Mr Murray and his team ran at the Fair. And eleven lucky winners won the Christmas Hampers in the raffle which included generous donations of Christmassy items from parents, a meat hamper from Making Food Happen, a Christmas tree from Sussex Christmas Trees and a hand made Christmas wreath from a talented parent. Thank you to all those who donated and bought tickets.
The Friends of Pennthorpe team would like to say a very big thank you to all the parents and staff who helped on the day and of course, the children of Year 7 and 8 who ran the games helping the younger children have a truly magical time.
The donations from Mrs Butcher’s face painting will go to Children in Need and the remaining funds will go to Friends of Pennthorpe and projects for children around the school. The final amount raised, to be shared very soon.
Finally, a huge thank you to all of you that came and supported the event so generously. You all made it such memorable event to start a wonderful Pennthorpe Christmas.
