🏉 A round up of the boys’ matches…

  • A big first fixture for each of the senior rugby teams, as they all came up against competitive Brambletye sides. The 1sts and 2nds faced heavy defeats at the hands of well organised and physical opposition, but everyone played in high spirits and battled right to the end. Oliver contributed some superb try-saving tackles the epitomised the resilience of the teams, whilst Hector dug deep and gave his all, never letting his head drop and continuing to make some great plays.
  • The U11s also showed their team spirit, working hard at the breakdown and offering some strong runs, but unfortunately couldn’t get the better of the opposition. Oliver gave a solid defensive display with low and well-executed tackles.
  • The U10s had a win and a loss both with small margins in competitive, end-to-end games. Both squads showed fantastic teamwork backed up by plenty of positive vocal support. Setting the standard for sportsmanship, Sammy delivered a true captain’s performance, leading by example on the field and encouraging his team throughout. For the U10As, Ben scored some fantastic breakaway tries and provided some superb support play.
  • After much anticipation, the U9s finally had their first game of contact rugby on Thursday. All the boys applied themselves brilliantly, showing ambition and bravery aplenty! Austen gave a high energy performance that created plenty of opportunities for lots of tries to be scored! Our mixed U8/9s had a full-on afternoon participating in a 7 team tag rugby round robin with Farlington and Cottesmore. Everyone got stuck into the occasion and enjoyed themselves immensely. Freddie worked hard against every team he faced, whilst Archie encouraged, supported and organised his team to ensure all were involved.

🏐 And the girl’s matches:

  • 1sts Netball had a positive first fixture, winning one game and narrowly losing the second; the team showed some clever and creative attacking play, moving the ball quickly and accurately down the court and finishing with some superb shooting. Niamh supplied constant and intelligent movement all over the court, dropping back to defend when required and driving attacks forward in possession.
  • The 2nds came up against a Great Barrows team with a significant height advantage – making intercepting passes particularly challenging! Nevertheless the team grew into the game and had some good passages of play, with Alice having a superb game in defence, making determined blocks and showing an excellent work rate.
  • Colts A started their game strong, making some good passes and defending well, ensuring the score line remained close until the final quarter. Despite Lara’s strong passing and movement off the ball, the girls tired towards the end and struggled to maintain their previous effort levels, which Longacre where quick to exploit. Hattie flexed her shooting skills in a convincing win for the Colts B, who worked brilliantly together to come out on top.
  • Year 5 netball teams both had promising first fixtures, developing their game play as the matches progressed and making life difficult for the opposition. Holly was able to find space in a strong defence to provide some great passes to keep the team going, but ultimately the other team just had that little bit more experience that they used to their advantage. Lucy made some brilliant attacking plays to enable her team to earn a respectable draw.
  • It was Longacre again for the Year 3 & 4s on Thursday, with two teams at home and two teams away. All the girls tried their hardest in what was for some their first ever netball fixture, and a great afternoon was had by all. Mia grew in confidence when receiving the ball and gaining possession, whilst Ayla provided the energy and positivity to keep her team fighting.

Next week is the final fixtures before the Christmas break, so fingers crossed for decent weather and plenty more sporting action!
