Reception have been learning all about dynamics and tempo in music, and how they affect how we feel when we listen to music. The children have explored how we can sing loudly and quietly, and they have even learnt the proper musical Italian terms for this – forte and piano. Reception have learnt that ‘tempo’ means the speed of music, and they have enjoyed matching the tempo of their walking around the room to the tempo of the music. They have listened to pieces of music with a fast tempo and forte dynamics, and compared them to how they feel when they listen to music with a slow tempo and piano dynamics. They have impressed Mrs Golchin so much with how much they have learnt so far this term!
