Last night, our Pennthorpe Eagles battled in a very exciting match against the Duke of Kent mums and came away with a victory! The final score was Pennthorpe Eagles 14 – Duke of Kent 11.
What a fantastic evening for all involved, for what was a really competitive, lively and close game with a mixture of A and B teams playing. The first quarter saw a strong start from DoK and as a result they were 2-1 up by the end. Pennthorpe Eagles found their groove in the second quarter scoring an awesome 6 goals to DoK’s 1. Pennthorpe had another strong third quarter scoring another 6 goals to the 3 scored by DoK. During the final quarter, both teams were really pushing hard for the win with the DoK mums beginning a well fought comeback scoring 3 goals to our 1.
Overall, Pennthorpe were victorious and the Head Teacher at DoK, Mrs Sue Knox, presented our Captain, Michelle, with the winner’s trophy; a netball with the match date which will take pride of place in our school. Duke of Kent were amazing hosts and provided lovely refreshments giving our team a very warm welcome. They also provided gifts for the umpires who gave up their time to umpire the game. Pennthorpe Eagles really enjoyed the match and are looking forward to hosting DoK at Pennthorpe very soon.
A huge congratulations to our Pennthorpe Eagles team, that included Michelle, Ali, Amanda, Evie, Adele, Kristel, Antonia, Emma, Danielle, Lizzy and Sophie. Also pictured below is our wonderful coach Rachel.
