In a remarkable transformation, Pennthorpe’s computer suite has been converted into a breath-taking gallery showcasing the exceptional artistic and design talents by all of the children. The exhibition features two art contributions from each child in Reception through Year 8, with additional design and technology (DT) pieces from students in Year 3 and above.
Highlights of the exhibit include intricate ceramics created by Year 6 students, vibrant mushroom prints from Year 2, and superhero-inspired pop art from Year 1. Year 5’s woodland animal heads, Year 3’s autumn tree paintings, and rainforest chameleons also draw significant attention. Additionally, Year 2 has contributed mixed-medium collages inspired by The Great Fire of London, with Reception producing tie-dye-effect leaves and collage birds, while Year 4 students have crafted shadufs and canopic jars accompanied by ancient Egyptian self-portraits.
The variety continues with striking tree rings, ancient Egyptian sarcophagus ceramic pieces, and DT nail art blocks from Year 4. Year 7 showcase their skills with textile pencil cases, and Year 5 impress with tote bags and additional pencil cases. Among the most eye-catching displays are the acrylic clocks, demonstrating the students’ proficiency across a wide range of mediums.
Mrs Shadlock, Head of Art & Design, praised the students’ dedication and creativity: “The application of the children across all year groups has been truly inspiring. They have embraced a variety of mediums with enthusiasm, from traditional ceramics and painting to modern textile and acrylic design. This exhibition is a testament to their hard work and boundless creativity.”
This vibrant display of student artwork and design projects not only showcases the diverse talents of Pennthorpe’s students but also highlights the school’s commitment to fostering creativity and artistic expression. The Exhibition is open to all families until Friday 7th June, closing at 5pm.
