“Last night I was lucky enough to go to Pennthorpe’s production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver! It began by entering a dark Victorian tavern where the excited audience sat at rustic tables with drinks, filling the air with lively conversations and laughter. The warm glow of the dim lighting made the faces around me both familiar. As I took a sip of my drink, the cast and ensemble began to flood onstage, capturing everyone’s attention. From the moment the show started, the audience was transported into the busy streets of Victorian London. The Year 7 and 8 cast brought incredible energy to the stage in popular songs such as ‘Oom-Pah-Pah’ and ‘Consider Yourself’, creating a whirlwind of activity with bright lights casting a vibrant glow; both individual and ensemble performances were nothing short of spectacular”.
