Our Year 1 children had an action-packed day visiting the local fire station, where they met real-life superheroes! From the moment the group arrived, the excitement was electric as the children got a first hand look at what it takes to be a firefighter.

The adventure started with a splash as the children had the chance to use the firefighter hoses, feeling the power of the water as they helped “put out” imaginary fires. They then got to climb aboard the bright red fire truck, exploring the driver’s seat, sirens, and all the cool gadgets that make these trucks so important in an emergency.

The fun didn’t stop there! The children were given a tour of the station, discovering where the firefighters work, train, and prepare for their heroic duties. One of the highlights of the day was a teacher race to see who could put on the firefighter gear the fastest. Watching the teachers struggle with helmets, jackets, and boots had everyone laughing!

Amid all the excitement, the firefighters shared an important lesson on safety: how and when to call 999 in an emergency. The children learned the significance of fire safety and how they can do their part in staying safe.

By the end of the visit, our young explorers left with a deeper appreciation for the bravery and dedication of these real-life superheroes. It was a day of fun, learning, and unforgettable memories!
