Means Tested Bursaries
The level of support awarded is not decided by a child’s level of academic ability but by the extent of the financial need and Pennthorpe’s available resources. All bursaries awarded are means tested on an annual basis.
There is no shortage of deserving cases, and demand often exceeds supply. The majority of awards are likely to be modest and will serve to bridge a gap between the cost of fees and what parents are genuinely able to afford. Awards are only granted to children entering Year 3 or above.
Bursaries can be applied for at any point in the academic year, but are drawn from a finite fund, set aside each academic year; once that fund is allocated no further bursaries will be available until the following academic year.
At Pennthorpe, we firmly believe in investing in the future of our children. Providing bursaries is our way of ensuring that every child has the opportunity to benefit from the exceptional education and opportunities our school offers. By supporting these talented students, we are not just enriching their lives but also shaping a brighter future for our community.Jon Marler, Deputy Head
All bursaries can be awarded in combination with other concessions (e.g. bursaries may be awarded to pupils already receiving a sibling discount), although this will also be taken into account when determining the amount to be granted.
