Algebra is a branch of mathematics that uses letters, numbers, and symbols to represent and solve mathematical problems. It may seem like a complicated subject, but it is actually very useful in real life.
Our Year 6 children designed their own food emporium, including coming up with their own menu. They priced up their wares and then created fictional orders. They wrote the order in shorthand, for example a burger as ‘b’ and fries as ‘f’, then worked out the cost of each order using their algebra knowledge.
