The children have looked at attributes such as las cascadas de Iguazú (Iguazú water falls), el río Paraguay (Paraguay river), la pampa paraguaya (Paraguayan treeless plain) as well as los armadillos and las ignanas. Take a look here.
They also read the story of el orquestra de esperanza which takes place in the village of Cateura, Paraguay, a true story – click here
Finally, the class learnt about some Paraguay Christmas traditions and 4B made their own pesebre (Nativity scene), a central element in Paraguayan festivities: the nativity scene, locally known as pesebre, is more than just a decoration; it’s a cherished symbol of the season found not only in churches but also in homes, town squares, and public buildings, from modest, handmade arrangements to intricate displays.
The Year 4 children have also put together some lovely spontaneous sentences this week! The children have been learning to name a wide range of classroom objects this half term and discussing whether they are masculine or feminine nouns. This week they were each given a different mystery pencil case to open and describe to the rest of the class. They all managed to name everything!
