On Tuesday 12 November, our Pennthorpe eSports team competed in a finals day, for an Independent schools Rocket League tournament. In the quarter finals bracket, Pennthorpe were matched with Holmwood House, a team they had been beaten by comfortably in the previous qualifying round.
The team comprised of Harry in goal, Sammy pulling the strings in midfield and Joe team captain and goalscorer, faced off with Holmwood in a best of 5 match series.
Despite Pennthorpe taking an early lead, match one went with the script and Holmwood led the series 1-0. However an organised Pennthorpe side rallied to take the next two matches, with the second of these coming with a 4-3 come from behind victory. Holmwood edged another close encounter in the 4th match to take the series to a deciding showdown.
The deciding match was not the close encounter it was billed to be, as Pennthorpe dominated from the first whistle, cruising to a 4-0 victory.
In the semi final, Pennthorpe played valiantly, but fell to 4-1 best of seven series defeat to French school Thodor Herzl.
