In a remarkable demonstration of community spirit and dedication, our parent-led charity Friends of Pennthorpe has provided another year of significant support to Pennthorpe with wonderful results. From the funds raised, Friends of Pennthorpe has been able to enhance both the sports and performing arts facilities for our school. Over the past 18 months, tireless fundraising efforts have culminated in the purchase of several key pieces of equipment and infrastructure.

One of the standout contributions is a new high jump mat and equipment, which will significantly benefit the school’s athletics programme. Additionally, Friends of Pennthorpe has funded the construction of two dugouts for the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) which will arrive soon, providing much-needed shelter and seating for players and spectators alike.

The charity has also made a substantial donation towards mobile lighting for the school’s Performing Arts department. This new lighting had its inaugural use at last night’s production of ‘Oliver! Jr’ greatly enhancing the visual experience and showcasing the pupils’ talents in the best possible light.

These achievements are the result of the Enchanted Ball, an event organized by the dedicated ball committee led by Sam Curling and Lizzy Dunckley which raised a large proportion of funds and all the other activities including the Christmas Fair and Hamper Raffle, Curry & Quiz Night, Second Hand Uniform Shop and many more.

Friends of Pennthorpe’s unwavering support and dedication are deeply appreciated by the entire school community. Their efforts have not only improved the facilities but have also enriched the children’s educational and extracurricular experiences.

The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to Friends of Pennthorpe and all the parents and supporters who have contributed to these initiatives. Your hard work and generosity continue to make a lasting impact on our school.

Lastly, we would like to express a huge thank you to Rosie Day (Chair), Nicola Osborn (Vice Chair), Lizzy Dunckley (Secretary), and Tanya Reed (Treasurer) for their unwavering support, kindness, and dedication. As all four will be stepping down, we acknowledge their invaluable contributions and welcome the new Friends of Pennthorpe committee for the upcoming academic year.
