The students had a great day learning about life cycles and selective breeding of cows, before moving onto looking at the machinery used to harvest the fields. After break the group had a talk with an agronomist about soil management, visited the grain stores to talk about the economics of farm management, before taking soil samples (to analyse back at school) and learning about the importance of hedgerows and rewilding projects.
Finally after lunch there was the chance to compare farm machinery of the 1960’s to the more modern machinery, before finally saying goodbye and heading back to school. A massive thank you to Paula and Lawrence from Manor Farm for their hospitality and patience, as they answered the thousands of questions we had!
