The hottest, driest, coldest, and wettest places on earth!

Okay, so it was not quite -89.2°C this week, despite the snow. However, during Geography lesson, the Year 4 children were looking at extreme climates.

This week during their lesson the children wrote postcards home to a friend describing the climate they found themselves in. Some wrote from Greenland, some wrote from The Alps and some wrote from the Brazilian Rainforest.

The class finished with a quiz, using the atlases the children had to try and guess the hottest, driest, coldest, and wettest places on earth using their prior knowledge.

Here are a few fun weather facts for you:

🥵The highest temperature ever recorded on Earth is 56.7°C in Death Valley, USA, on 10 July 1913.

🥶 The coldest temperature ever recorded on Earth was −89.2°C at the Vostok Station, Antarctica on 21st July 1983. Brrrrr!

🌧️Mawsynram in India is the wettest place on Earth. Nearly 12m of rainfall every year!
