This year’s celebration was a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to explore the concept of thinking differently, while learning more about various neurodivergent profiles.

From the very beginning, the children fully embraced the idea of neurodiversity. Throughout the week, they participated in a range of engaging activities, each one designed to spark curiosity and open minds. During form times, the children watched short videos that introduced them to different neurodivergent profiles, helping to build empathy and understanding, all selected by Mrs Daley.

The fun didn’t stop there. At break times, the children took part in a variety of activities that ranged from singing and dancing to problem-solving and puzzles. These activities not only allowed them to connect in creative ways but also demonstrated the power of different thinking styles, as they worked together to find solutions.

A truly special moment from the week was the creation of our Neurodiversity Wall. Pupils from Reception all the way through to Year 8 contributed to this vibrant display. Through the ‘I am Unique; I am Me’ project, each child had the opportunity to express what makes them special and celebrate their individuality. The wall became a visual representation of our diverse school community, and it was heart warming to see the pride everyone took in their contributions.

However, the standout event of the week was undoubtedly the Learning Support Open Morning held on Friday. The department was buzzing with excitement, filled to capacity with children eager to show their friends where they go for lessons and those simply curious to take a peek into a part of the school that might be unfamiliar to them. It was a wonderful opportunity to demystify the Learning Support area and foster a deeper understanding of the support systems in place for all children.

As we reflect on Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2025, we can’t help but feel proud of how the children embraced the themes of understanding, respect, and celebration. We look forward to making this event even bigger and better next year. Until then, we’ll continue to champion neurodiversity, celebrate our differences, and support each other every day.

Here’s to a community where everyone’s uniqueness is recognised and appreciated!
