New Pupil Information

Pennthorpe makes various uses of images of pupils during their time at school.

The categories for image use at Pennthorpe are:

• FULL - Images may be appear in printed and electronic materials used for prospective parents, the school community, social media and marketing.
  
• PARTIAL - Images may be on displays within school, which may be seen by visitors.
  
• MINIMAL - Images will be used for identification in the school's Management Information System, a necessity for the administration and safety of the pupils.

Many parents find a contact list of the children in their child’s class useful to assist with the organisation of parties, play dates and parental social events.

Pennthorpe will send you information about routine educational visits by giving you a copy of the school calendar and class timetable at the start of each term and, where possible, at least a week before each visit or activity takes place.

You can, if you wish, tell the school that you do not want your child to take part in any particular school visit or activity.

All children in the Honey Pot, Beehive and Reception at Pennthorpe have a personal Learning Journey, which is a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us in the Early Years.
The Learning Journey is a collation of records, photos, observations and comments from both home and school. At Pennthorpe, we use an online programme called iConnect provided by Connect childcare. Connect childcare are ISO9001 certified and are registered with the Information Commissioners Office, complying with the strict Data Protection legislation. This means iConnect is a safe and secure on-line Learning Journey tool, and your data is protected.
The benefits of iConnect being on-line means parents have secure access, via the ParentZone app, to your child’s Learning Journey and, in addition to viewing our contributions, we encourage you to add to it by uploading photos and comments, or commenting on observations made by us.

Under current legislation, it is necessary for parents to give consent to their son/daughter receiving simple routine medical treatment in school.
For example:

• Bumps and Bruises: a cold pack and if necessary cream e.g. Arnica
• Cuts and Grazes: a medicated wipe and if necessary antiseptic cream/spray and plaster
• Head/ear ache, temperature, coughs and sore throats: a Paracetamol or Ibuprofen tablet/suspension
• Insect Bites and Stings: anti-histamine cream or cold pack
• Allergic Reactions: anti-allergy syrup
• Strong Sunlight: apply sun cream to your child's face, neck, arms and legs.

Please notify us of any medical information of which we should be aware, including any special dietary requirements. Any details supplied will be held securely in the School's Management Information System.

Please note, whilst we can provide meals which do not include nominated allergens, we cannot guarantee that dishes do not contain traces of allergens, as they will be stored and prepared in the same areas as nominated allergens. There is a risk of cross contamination on display counters, particularly self-service areas such as salad bars and dessert counters.

Please be aware that while our catering provider, Holroyd Howe, do not use nuts in any of the food we prepare and serve, we are unable to guarantee that dishes/products served are totally free from nuts/nut derivatives, due to the use of precautionary allergy statements such as ‘may contain’ used by our suppliers.
