As Pre-Prep are part of the whole school, we are fortunate to have full access to Performing Arts specialist staff, who are on hand to teach even our youngest children. This is a real advantage for our children as they benefit from the expertise and passion of our other teaching staff as well as the incredible facilities we have on site.
The teaching staff visit the classrooms where the children are already secure and gradually the children enjoy more and more specialist lessons and begin to visit the specialist classrooms too. As the children move into Year 2, they will venture beyond the Pre-Prep more often as this is a fantastic way to aid transition into the Prep School.
There are also many Performing Arts based extra-curricular activities available for children in our Pre-Prep.
Music is a daily occurrence in our younger Pre-Prep classes and we consider it an important part of speech and memory development. All of our Honey Pot, Beehive and Reception children enjoy singing, action songs and rhymes and all Pre-Prep have one or two lessons each week with our Music Department staff. Our Honeypotters also participate in a visiting music company, ‘Music Bus’ and (should they attend on a Friday morning) they enjoy a wealth of familiar songs and dances.
Children may also begin to learn a musical instrument in the Pre-Prep and these can be booked via the Director of Performing Arts.
Our Director of Performing Arts works alongside other Music and Drama teachers and one of the team will have regular contact with our Year 1 and 2 children. They will benefit from Drama lessons as well as extras such as LAMDA and the inclusive after school Drama club. Our Performing Arts staff are passionate Performing Artists and the Christmas Play is an absolute highlight of the year. All our Pre-Prep children are involved and it is always a show-stopping experience!
