In the children’s lessons they have been making good use of the grounds by carrying out sampling and quadrating, in addition, Year 8 carried out reactions involving neutralisation, displacement, decomposition, oxidation, reduction and redox! Pre-Prep enjoyed an outdoor science show which included methane rockets, water bottle rockets, a giant elephants toothpaste, smoke cannons & mentos and coke. There was also an opportunity to link up with Farm Live as part of their British Science Week initiative to hear about the life of Farmer Fiona.
The Prep children enjoyed a fascinating demonstration of flying birds by Huxley’s Bird of Prey Centre which included a chance to ask questions and handle a bird. Please reassure your children that Shannon was eventually coaxed down from the rafters! You can use the QR code below to book your visit to Huxley’s and enjoy a free entry for a child with a paying adult. Please print off and take the QR code when you visit.
Years 5 – 8 enjoyed a fun Science Emoji quiz – we have attached it below if any parents fancy giving it a go!
