A round up of the matches this week…
- The U13A’s were away at Lancing College where Lancing batted first. Pennthorpe kept a strong Lancing batting line up to 108 and when Pennthorpe went into bat, we just fell short chasing the total down. Eleanor and Johnny bowled tight lines and Johnny held our innings together with 34 (not out). Praise also for Jack who batting very positively.
- The U13B’s Team bowled first in their game where their bowling was consistent throughout their innings but they fell short with the bat.
- Our U13c’s had a close game against Lancing with a good batting performance and with the ball.
- Colt’s A Team batted first in their game against Lancing posting a score of 48. They had excellent performance with the ball, with a close finish to the game, they came up just short.
- The Colt’s B also had a very close game against Longacre. Pennthorpe batted first. Some great power hitting from Hugo and Callum got Pennthorpe up to a competitive total. Then Longacre came into bat and with a strong bowling performance all round, especially from Zahira, Harriet and Romilly, Pennthorpe got the win after a close finish to the game.
- In another close game with Longacre, the Colt’s C showed great team spirit, speedy fielding and some aggressive batting, and Pennthorpe won the game by 18 runs.
- The Colt’s D were away to Longacre. It was a great first game of cricket that we narrowly lost by 9 runs. Effort was excellent in the field to stop some cracking shots by the opposition.
- In their first Cricket game, the Colt’s E team were superb. They put their batting and fielding into practice, with lots of success. It was a very close finish to the game where a brilliant catch from Sam ended the match with a big win!!
- Finally, the Colt’s F had another exciting cricket game against Longacre where they had a great all round performance, where they came out with a win by 49 runs.
