Pennthorpe were delighted to welcome Team GB and England hockey player Izzy Petter on Wednesday. Izzy has won an Olympic Bronze medal and Commonwealth Gold medal, both of which she bought into school to show the pupils. Izzy spoke with the Pre-Prep and Years 5-8 about her journey to the top, training regimes, how to cope with set backs and how it felt to play at the Olympics Games in Japan 2021. The children were also treated to a masterclass with Izzy on the Astro, where they learnt about 3D skills, beating a defender and ‘V’ drags.

Team GB comes to Pennthorpe
This week Pennthorpe had a visit from a Team GB and England Hockey player Izzy Petter.
On Wednesday, Years 5-8 had a visit and masterclass with Izzy Petter and learned lots of new skills to up our game in matches. We learned skills such as dragging and 3d skills! It was outstanding fun, and we learnt a lot from her! At the end, we had a Q&A with her in which she had to answer lots of questions about her hockey journey and life. After that, we had hockey items signed like hockey sticks and gumshields and then the head for the day (Maddie and Sophie) had a picture with her and it was all incredibly fun!Maddie & Felix C, Year 6
