In an inspiring display of determination and family unity, the Day family have embarked on a unique and challenging journey. Over the last month, the family has collectively walked, swum, and cycled a distance of 300 kilometres—the equivalent of travelling from London to Paris as part of the Duchenne Dash at home. This extraordinary effort is part of their campaign to raise funds and awareness for Duchenne UK, a charity dedicated to fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
The motivation behind this endeavour is deeply personal; Jasper was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy seven years ago. Determined to make a difference, the family decided to take on this challenge to support Jasper and others affected by the condition.
The challenge has seen the Days undertake various activities. Despite the physical demands and the unpredictable British weather, the family has remained committed to their goal. In addition, Jasper’s sister Lexi presented the fundraiser to her peers in a school huddle, speaking with such maturity, bravery and passion Lexi delivered a moving message to staff and children.
The family has set up a fundraising page, and contributions have been pouring in from well-wishers. The funds raised will go towards Duchenne UK in their fight to end Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy; while simultaneously providing funds to research initiatives and support programmes aimed at improving the quality of life for those with DMD.
As they near the completion of their 300-kilometre journey, they have raised over an enormous £3,000 – should you wish to add to their fundraising total, the JustGiving page is available here.
