On Wednesday, the Year 4 children were transported back more than 5000 years to the ancient civilization of Egypt.
Sabeth joined the class to guide the children through what it was like to be a ‘normal’ person living during this period.
The class built a boat, to transport the grain they had harvested down the River Nile. They even undertook an Ancient Egyptian Maths lesson, learning their numbers symbols and asking the age-old question, ‘how would they have done long multiplication using these symbols?’

After lunch, the children took part in the mummification process and even got to remove the brains of the Pharaoh’s Grandson. They were also treated to a re-enactment of the weighing of the heart ceremony.
Year 4 concluded the day, as all days should be concluded, by dissecting poo to understand what types of food would have been available to the Ancient Egyptians!
