From estimating and researching the distances between different local locations to investigating how many different dimensions they could find for a box to have a volume of 48 cm3, they loved exploring this topic.

To finish up they worked out the volume of a triangular prism from it’s net. First they has to measure the base and height of the triangle first and then apply the formula that they had learnt to find the area of it (base multiplied by height, then divided by 2). They then had to measure the length of the prism and multiply the area of the triangle by it. They ended up finding out they volume was around 100,000 mm3!

After working out the volume they decorated the nets and then very carefully constructed them into 3D shapes.
